Barbra Batshalom, LEED AP
Executive Director
Barbra is the founder and Executive Director of the Green Roundtable. She has provided the vision and strategic thinking to create an organization focused on market transformation. She collaborates with cities, institutions and companies to transform their internal practices to improve performance, profitability and sustainability. Barbra's professional experience in design and environmental policy provides the organization with the guidance needed to address issues surrounding sustainable design from various perspectives.

Andrea Atkinson
NEXUS General Manager

Andrea currently manages programs, staff and activities of The Green Roundtable's NEXUS Green Building Resource Center. Her work focuses on creating and improving systems and securing relationships that help to make NEXUS a comprehensive, free green building resource for all.  She holds a degree in International Relations with a focus on sustainable development from Boston University. Andrea has worked with the Integrative Design Collaborative, the U.S. Department of Energy and other organizations in Latin America and Africa.


Phoebe Beierle
Special Projects Coordinator

Phoebe brings project management skills and a broad range of experience in the green building and renewable energy field to her position as Special Projects Coordinator. She most recently worked for the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative where she helped to coordinate and manage various renewable energy grant programs. While in school at Oberlin College, Phoebe worked with the school’s administration on climate energy and green building policy efforts. Phoebe’s current work at the GRT related to water conservation policy and training on green home construction, serves to expand the organization’s impact on sustainable development practices throughout the region.


Britt Briber, LEED AP
Project Associate

Britt has a civil/structural engineering background and experience and most recently received a masters degree from Boston University in international relations and environmental policy.  With interests in high-performance building design, renewable energy, and sustainable development more broadly, Britt brings a very diverse skill set to The Green Roundtable.  Moreover, his experience in sustainable residential building materials, methods, and systems broaden the offerings of The Green Roundtable in this important area of work.


Patricia Burke
, LEED AP

Project Associate

Patricia brings diverse work experience in the areas of education, policy, law, program development as well as project management skills to the consulting practice of The Green Roundtable. Patricia has been a consultant to the City of Boston's Department of Neighborhood Development where she participated in the development and implementation of the City's Green Affordable Housing Program. Prior to consulting to the City of Boston she was Coordinator of the Program on Latin America and the Caribbean at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy.


Annie Cardinaux

NEXUS Resource Coordinator

Annie currently oversees the Internship Program, tours, Help Desk, and samples and reference libraries at NEXUS. She brings a diverse set of skills and experiences from her work with environmental non-profits including education, outreach, volunteer coordination, program evaluation, urban horticulture, and office management. After graduating from Tufts University with a B.S. in Geology, she worked for the Bagaduce Watershed Association in Maine and completed a year as an Americorps*VISTA with The Urban Ecology Institute at Boston College. Most recently she worked as Environmental Educator and Program Assistant at EarthWorks in Roxbury, MA. Annie is a recipient of the James Hume Field Geology Prize.


Aaron Desatnik

NEXUS Events and Marketing Coordinator

Aaron has a BA in Comparative Studies and Religious Studies from the Ohio State University and a background in event coordination and social and environmental activism. His involvement in environmental work includes writing and editing literature for a watershed conservation organization, recruitment and fundraising for an environmental bike ride, and apprenticing on sustainable organic farms. Concurrent with his work at the GRT, Aaron is being trained as an organizer with the Jewish Organizing Initiative, a year-long organizing training program in Boston, where he is learning how to bring components of organizing into his green building work at the GRT. On the side, Aaron currently teaches bike mechanics, consults on bike touring, and writes for a blog on food issues and the Jewish community.


Dawn Graichen

Manager of Operations and Finance

Dawn brings extensive experience in non-profit program management with a background in business and economics to her roles as Manager of Operations and Finance. She was previously the Lead Residential Counselor at the Boys Hope Girls Hope facility in Willmete, Illinois and a planning consultant at the Omni Group in California. Her responsibilities include office administration and finance and operations management.


Tova Greenberg

Director of Technical Assistance

Tova is responsible for administration of GRT's consulting and training services. She holds a BA in architecture from Princeton University and has extensive project management, client management and consulting experience. She has worked for architecture, planning, not-for-profit real estate development and intellectual property consulting firms.


Paul Marquis
, LEED AP

NEXUS Education Coordinator

Paul has more than 25 years experience in nearly all aspects of residential design and construction. He is a former manager of the Building Operator Certification (BOC) program for Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Inc., of Lexington, Mass., a non-profit devoted to regional energy conservation training and policy initiatives. He holds certificates in energy-efficient design, building technology and sustainable design from the University of Massachusetts, Northeastern University and the Boston Architectural College respectively, and is a Massachusetts licensed Construction Supervisor and LEED Accredited Professional. Paul was voted “Best Green Consultant” in “Boston” magazine’s 2007 reader poll. At The Green Roundtable Paul coordinates NEXUS education initiatives and the Green House Doctor program.


Marie McMahon, LEED AP

Green Building Consultant

Marie's background is a story of diversity ranging from material science to mechanical engineering to construction. She most recently worked for a large construction company assisting with on-site LEED tracking and documentation efforts, trade coordination, and successfully juggling the challenges, quick answers, and attention to detail that are ‘the norm' during construction. Marie has also practiced as a teacher, a consultant, and as a database architect and energy forecaster for Constellation New Energy. Her unique background brings attention to detail in areas that complement the overall technical assistance group. Her skillset and experience brings another very important perspective to the work that not only enhances our efforts during the later stages of projects, but the feedback crucial to the initial stage.


Suzanne Robinson, P.E., LEED AP
Green Building Consultant

Suzanne brings a diverse background to her green building consulting allowing her to provide a unique perspective and analysis capabilities to shaping sustainable strategy solutions. As a licensed Civil Engineer, she started her work in the building profession as a Structural Engineer in San Francisco. In her pursuit of green design, she has studied for her Masters in Structural Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley and her Masters in Architecture at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, worked in architectural firms in Michigan and Connecticut, before finding a career as a Green Building Consultant. Her work focuses on assisting owners and project teams through the complex process of project design and implementation relating to green design strategies in addition to providing educational trainings.


Colleen Soden, LEED AP
Urban Planner & Green Building Consultant

Colleen most recently was a planner for Carter & Burgess Building Programs Division serving as a hybrid and liaison between the engineering and architectural divisions. She has provided project management and design consultation services for a number of projects in the commercial, residential and retail sectors. In addition she has worked extensively for planning and community development municipalities in Housing/Mixed Use Development, Brownfield Redevelopment, and Sustainable Development strategies. She also has applied her expertise in planning and sustainable design to projects in Buffalo, New York; Rochester New York; Washington, D.C.; and Costa Rica. As a Design Consultant / Project Manager for Sustainable Buffalo, Colleen assisted development of a sustainable development framework for the City of Buffalo.

Dee Spiro, LEED AP
Project Associate

Dee brings a range of skills in project management, strategic planning, community organizing and writing to her work at The Green Roundtable.  Her most recent experience was as Senior Planner for the City of Newton Housing and Community Development Program where she developed and managed federally funded projects through all phases from conception to implementation.  She served as the City’s liaison to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and was responsible for the management and coordination of the annual application and evaluation processes for federal funding programs.  Her interest in environmental issues was sparked in the early 1990s when she worked at Turner Broadcasting as a publicist promoting environmental programming. 

Siobhan Steyn, LEED AP
Project Associate

Siobhan brings a range of technical experience to the Green Roundtable as well as a personal interest in sustainable development and green building design.  Siobhan’s background is in civil and environmental engineering with experience in water resource management, energy efficiency and renewable energy systems.  Most recently she worked for a consulting firm specialized in energy efficiency and renewable energy systems where her work focused primarily on project management and technical support for the ENERGY STAR Program and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Small Renewables Initiative.  In addition to her work at the Green Roundtable Siobhan is an avid rower and is currently working with the Head of the Charles Regatta staff to start a recycling program for the event.
