How To Draw Your Landscape Design
Building a professional landscape design is a challenging task . Nevertheless, it can be a fulfilling experience if you choose to invest plenty of time and some energy backed up by some defined guidelines. One of them is to draw a basic landscape design, which can be done without advanced tools, software, or high-end drawing materials which require experienced landscapers.
Landscape design can be defined as a floor plan specially designed for outdoor spaces. It is used to construct a visual illustration of garden spaces with the help of scaled dimensions. The new renovation design includes several elements, including the natural ones as well as those that are manufactured.
The first step to create a landscape design, whether you’re thinking of designing a new one or improving the pre-existing landscape is to identify the inventory you already own. The simplest way to do this is to accurately record the location and size of the permanent features of the garden.
When you have identified the features of your site, it is time to draw a rough outline of it by taking a suitable sized notepad and sketching your outdoor space. Include everything you see especially those items that you cannot remove or are not planning to remove.
Do not forget to include buildings, walls, trees and shrubs, paved areas, pools, fences, patios, and every other permanent feature. Add sideways and walkways and sketch the property lines too. This is a point where you should not be too concerned about accuracy and instead focus on including every permanent feature.
One option is to use a camera and take multiple photographs of the outdoor space. Transfer these to a computer and use the basic picture software it has to increase the brightness of the images so that you can see them clearly when it comes time to draw them.
Next step is to measure all the features. Measure the house, fences, rockeries, shed, and the areas which plants such as shrubs occupy. Now add these dimensions to the rough sketch you have started to create.
With the help of a string and stakes, starting from one corner, draw a straight line along the boundary of the property. Now keep the measuring tape at an angle of 90 degrees from a specific boundary and measure the distance between the boundary and the closest corner of the home, shrubs, pools, or any other object on the base map accurately.
Grab a pencil and a ruler and transfer the measurements accurately to a sheet of graph paper. The fundamental rule is to use one inch to represent four feet if you are designing for a small space or one inch to twenty feet if the design is for a bigger space.
Now take the map and attach it on a hard surface or table. Use tracing paper to make additional copies of the base map, and then you can add multiple themes to these copies. A different theme on each map will allow you to add detail to the base map and this can be used separately for added clarity.
Various software programs are also available if you’re not skilled enough to draw with hands, but the simple ones don’t yield accurate designs and the ones that do often have an extremely steep learning curve. One suggestion could be to ask around those you know to see if any of them are skilled at drawing or know how to use drawing software.
